Romulus & Remus

"I had rather be first in a village than second at Rome. "
- Julius Caesar
I love Rome. I fell in Love with Rome the very first time i set foot on her soil. It was a rather impromptu encounter; a planned chance meeting.
Rome is Eternal. It's a frozen city; frozen in her own space and her own time. Every day is the same in Rome. She makes me think of old people that always tell the same stories and anecdotes of their youth over and over again and you just sit there and listen with a smile on your face because 1- you owe them respect 2- Even if you refuse to admit it, you actually enjoy listening to those stories.

And we enjoy listening to the Story of Rome. Rome the Glorious, Rome The Conquerer, Rome the arrogant. Rome for whom many men gave their Heart, their Art, their soul -and their life. Rome overwhelmed by her own Glory. Rome.

Rome is Weary. Rome is History. Rome is afraid she might, herself, forget the splendour of her past. So everyday she wakes up but keep her eyes closed. And she dreams. And you, who visit her memory, you walk in her dream. Rome smiles, for she knows that when you return to the world all you will be able to say is : " I came, I saw, I was conquered".

" Rome is the city of echoes, the city of illusions, and the city of yearning".- Giotto di Bondone
