So, that's it : I am leaving Barcelona! The past 9 months went by sooooooooo fast, it's ridiculous ! Sometimes I feel like I spent my whole time there holding my breath and did not really lived in that city (Well that was actually the case. lonnng story :). And yet, Barcelona is a very peculiar city ; one of those few cities with a Soul. She is elusive, paradoxical. She takes you bluntly throughout the ages, and abandons you totally breathless in the labyrinth of her narrow streets. She promises to set you free but She knows you 'll never leave her. El que viene a Barcelona, se queda! said the cab driver. Scandalous and discreet, such is the nature of Barcelona.
It's really a pity that I'm starting this blog only when I'm leaving Barna (Barcelona nickname..not to confuse with Barça, the name of the soccer team :)because to live there , really is a spiritual, artistic ,and culinary experience. A pleasure for all the senses. I'll try and make up for lost time because it is an experience worth sharing !
So today, I woke up early (ok, it was 1:00 pm.. but I went salsa dancing last night :) - and decided that I would be a tourist for the day! I made a list of all the things I wanted to see/visit before my departure from Barcelona . Little did I know that monday was not a tourist-friendly day : every thing was closed !
The Monastery of Pedralbes : CLOSED !
The Picasso Museum : CLOSED !
Espai Sucre : The one and ONLY dessert restaurant in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD !I sooo wanted to try the Duck magret with cacao cake and lemon!!!! CLOSED!
So out of frustration, I decided to go to the Parc del Laberint d'Horta and spend some quality time alone, far away from civilization :) !..and it turned out to be one of the best moments I had spent in Barcelona !
Por fin, I went to Cirkus Sushi and Moda to have dinner. This place is really original: it's both a Sushi restaurant and a jewellery & accessories boutique !! It's located in a small street close to the Ramblas and it kinds of look shady from the outside; but like they say, never judge a book by its cover: The Food is Simply AMAZING! The sushi tasted even better that the ones I ate at Sushi Club in Buenos Aires; and God knows those were Divine!
They have all the usual sushi favourites such as sashimi, nigiri and uramakis but I had one of the house creations; a combination of lobster, salmon, avocado, mango, cream cheese and strawberries ! creative and Yummmmy!
Then I went home and spent the whole night packing..and drinking some wine.
....And missed my flight ;)
